Jute fibres constist in large parts of lignin which makes them very tensile. Our jute fabric is solely made of unbleached and chemically untreated jute fibres. 

Due to its lower tensile strength jute fabric is only suitable for erosion control on areas with a smaller slope. Jute fabric rots quite quick. It thus can only be applicated where the vegetation (e.g. grass or herbage seed) covers the area within the first year completely and takes over erosion control.  

The meshes of the jute fabric reduce the flow rate of the effluent surface water. This effect allows storm water to percolate slowly into the ground. The fabric therefore should thoroughly be fixed with pins to the ground to ensure a maximum contact with the ground. This also prevents from elutriation.

The jute fabric itself partly absorbs the precipitation. Therefore and due to the close mesh structure of the jute fabric a positive microclimate is created below of it. This has a positiv effect on a fast germination of the seeds.
